Fanfare for The Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Yesterday a particularly well dressed man came to our office, carrying a very shiny award from the Queen. It was none other than - deep breath - The Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Camden, Sir Ian Johnston CBE QPM DL, in full regalia.

Sir Ian kindly came to present us with our Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. It’s the UK’s highest accolade for business success, and came in recognition of our dedication to improving the quality of pets’ lives. We couldn’t be prouder to have won, and Sir Ian had some lovely words for us.

“What is so special about the Queen’s Award is that it is a distinction you have achieved together as a team. These awards are greatly sought and sparingly given. To win it you have to be head and shoulders above the rest.”

Buckingham Palace

As if that wasn’t special enough, last Thursday Henrietta went to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen, Prince Philip and Princess Anne.

While Lily herself didn’t go (have you ever tried to teach a dog to curtsy?), Henrietta was there to represent everyone at Lily’s Kitchen, four- and two-legged team members alike.

Henrietta says, “The Queen's Award is the ultimate accolade and to win, particularly for innovation, is not only wonderful but a huge recognition of all the dedication from the Lily’s Kitchen team to make a real different to the health and happiness of pets. 

It's this uncompromising approach to the quality of pet food we produce and the innovation we have brought to the category which has resulted in this achievement. These Awards are significant for entrepreneurial British businesses - competing with the large corporates. I’d like to thank my extraordinary team and all our producers who work so hard to our exacting standards.”

Pioneering Innovation in Pet Food

As well as pioneering proper, wholesome and natural recipes for pets, Lily’s Kitchen has also been particularly innovative in the recipes themselves. These two are particular favourites. 

Snack Bars

A nutritionally complete dry food recipe in a super convenient and easy to carry, on the go bar. After lots of attempts, we’ve created a snack bar that’s fantastically snappable and is completely free of artificial additives.

Breakfast Crunch

A complete dry food created for the perfect start to the day. This recipe is baked rather than cooked using steam and pressure. It takes longer but means that the ingredients retain their integrity and is great for dogs with sensitive tummies.
