Hampstead Heath Cockapoo Christmas

Top 5 Winter Walks

There's nothing like a long walk in the winter with your family. So we have put together our top 5 winter walks that are guaranteed to get everyone's tails wagging.

Lilly Hill, Bracknell

Wonder why we chose this walk… Lily Hill Park is a beautiful green space full of historic parkland, wood and even England’s Longest Picnic Bench (which makes sausage snaffling wonderfully easy for dogs). Winner of a Green Flag Award, it’s a stunning place to take your pooch for some fresh air and views – all without really leaving Bracknell.

Hampstead Heath, London

What would a Lily’s Kitchen walking guide be without our local heath? Lily walks here every day (as do all the office dogs) and there’s a good reason Hampstead is a haven for pooches.

The Heath is full to the brim with walking routes through woodland, grassland, hills and ponds. And with Hampstead on one side and Highgate on the other, whichever way you walk you’re sure to end up in a stunningly traditional, cosy pub.

Wenlock Edge, Shropshire

This limestone escarpment is a 19 mile ridge of stunning woodland, and there’s plenty of footpaths and bridleways to choose from. Use the nearby Much Wenlock or Ironbridge as a base for a meal or drink, as both are beautiful historic (and dog friendly) towns with fantastic views.

Totnes and The River Dart, Devon

Devon is jam packed with beautiful walks, but the abundance of pubs in the Medieval town of Totnes puts this one at the top.

Start from the center of Totnes and head north along the river towards Dartington Hall (make sure you put the dog on the lead while you’re on the estate). Loop back around from the Hall and find yourself a congratulatory pub back in the town.

Reeth Round, Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Dales are famous for a reason. This 3½ mile walk starts at the Saxon market town of Reeth, along a stream and dry stone walls. Follow the signs to Langwaite and head to Arkle Beck before looping back round.

Along with the rolling fields come skittish sheep, so be sure to keep your dog close and on their lead when needs be.
