OUR STORY

Lily’s Kitchen was named after a border terrier called—you guessed it—Lily. An icon in the making, this playful pup is how our journey towards making proper food for pets began. Over ten years ago, Henrietta, Lily’s owner, struggled to find a pet food made with natural ingredients. One day Lily fell ill, suffering with sore skin, and after trying various remedies without any success, Henrietta started cooking her own food from scratch.

Within two weeks, Lily was nursed back to full health. Henrietta wondered why all four-legged members of the family couldn’t get their paws on the same quality recipes us humans enjoy. Inspired, she sought the help of some expert vets and pet nutritionists and set out to create proper food for pets, that dogs and cats would enjoy, and that pet parents could trust. When we say proper, we mean exactly that; food made with freshly prepared proper meat and offal (no meat meal) and naturally nutritious ingredients. Just like that, Lily’s Kitchen was born.

OUR LOVEABLE ROGUE LILY

When Lily was with us, she spent many happy years pottering around Henrietta’s allotment, tearing across Hampstead Heath or nestled by Henrietta’s side in our London office. Your typical terrier, she was stubborn, fussy and just the right amount of sassy. This made her the perfect taste-tester, because she never settled for anything less than the best for her furry pals—and rightly so.

Lily’s legacy lives on to this day and still inspires us to always make proper food for pets. In fact, we’re still making her favourite recipes (Sunday Lunch and Wild Campfire Stew if you were wondering).
