Diversity & Inclusion Policy

Diversity & Inclusion at Lily’s Kitchen

At Lily’s, we’ve got room for everyone. We want to build and maintain a culture that has trust and inclusion at the centre of everything we do. We want to empower people to safely and comfortably express every characteristic of their personal identity and experience. Through our B Corp workstreams, we empower everyone in the business to voice their opinion and help make Lily’s the best place to work it can be.

What does that mean?

It means that we’re committed to supporting and encouraging a diverse and inclusive workforce. Regardless of ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, or status as an individual with a disability, our team members will get all the opportunities, respect and support you’d expect from a passionate business that cares about its people (as well as its pets).

We strongly encourage people of colour, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and non-binary people, veterans, parents, individuals with disabilities and/or other people from underrepresented groups to apply for our open roles. As long as you’ve got a passion for pets, you’re welcome on our team! (Psst! You can learn more about current opportunities on our work pages.)

Pawsitive Change

As a B Corp, we think it’s important to do everything we can to look after everyone on our team. It’s also important to challenge how we do things and look for ways to improve.

So we created our Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Led by employees, this bunch help us to consider how we can be more compassionate and considerate both as a business and as individuals. They spearhead our annual D&I survey, tracking how we’re doing each year, and manage a programme of activities as part of our Diversity & Inclusion Roadmap.

Equal Opportunities

When we recruit for new roles, we make sure the ads are designed to proactively welcome people from every background. More importantly, we’ve worked with recruitment experts to make sure our hiring procedure follows best practice and appropriate processes to remove any information that may lead to unconscious bias. When we work with external recruiters, our applications are blind reviewed, so applicants can be sure that everyone has a fair chance at success, and we know that the best people for the job will progress to interview.

We offer a number of policies to make sure that the people on our team are supported, such as flexible working, comeback coaching, and mental health support. You can learn more about these here.

What’s Next?

Diversity and Inclusion isn’t a finite project with a beginning, middle and end. It’s an ongoing journey that gives us all a chance to evolve, grow, and we think, makes Lily’s Kitchen a better business. We know there’ll always be more to learn, and there’ll always be opportunities to do better. That’s our Diversity and Inclusion commitment: we promise to always be open to learning, growing and improving.
